Singles day out - London Greenwich at Christmas

10 am: Guided Walking Tour (London Blue Badge Tourist Guide - Nicola)

Pirates, princesses, kings, queens, astronomers and architects. Just a few of the characters that we’ll encounter on a walking tour through one of the most important places in England’s maritime and royal history. Plenty to hear and see, including one of the best views of London. We’ll start by the River Thames to see a famous tea delivery ship and hear about its connections to a famous Scottish poet before making our way to Greenwich Park, on the way enjoying the stunning architecture of a Queen’s palace and a college for sailors. A Palace where many of our Tudor monarchs were born, lived and died... And often used as a backdrop by film and TV production units. Then a short, but steepish climb takes us to the top of a hill to see the home of Greenwich Mean Time and find out why it’s even here. Then down through the park, once an Olympic venue, back to the town to enjoy the Christmas lights of Greenwich Market and time for lunch.

12:15 Lunch at the National Maritime Museum (included in price)

We will take our time to enjoy a hearty lunch after our morning walk.  At lunch, we will relax, chat and mingle with the group discussing, amongst other things, what we found the most interesting and impressive from the tour and just generally getting to know each other!

2:30 You will have a choice to join a group visiting the Christmas Market or a group visiting Greenwich Market.

3:30 Groups will meet at the entrance to Greenwich Market.

You will have the choice to join us in the Coach & Horses (Greenwich Market) for a swift pint, a glass of wine or mineral water. (not included in the price)

Others, who have travelled up for the day from the South Coast may want to start making their way to the train station.

This event will be hosted from start to finish by Jacqui.  She will be at the meeting point at 10 am waiting to greet you.

Nicola will be your guide until lunchtime.

Jacqui will take over and make sure everyone is comfortable and happy.

The event is limited to 20 people. £45 Per person.

A little bit about our guide - Nicola

Nicola is a Registered London Blue Badge Tourist Guide, which is the highest guiding qualification recognised in the UK tourism sector. After an MA in sculpture, and then working in the financial sector in the City of London, she retrained as a Blue Badge Tourist Guide 20 years ago and was an award winner in her qualification year. Since then, she has worked continually as an independent Guide in London’s major historical sites, museums and galleries. Nicola was one of a small team of Blue Badge Guides with the privilege of leading public tours in the Houses of Parliament and walking tours of the 2012 Olympic Park. Her qualification enables her to put together bespoke tours or to guide in a huge range of London’s sites from Westminster Abbey to the British Museum.

Nicola has lived in London for over 40 years and has no intention of leaving yet.
